Lets start on the Display Boards...

Here is one of the Scrapbook Pages that I had designed for the Convention Display Boards...this one is an exclusive sneak Peek as it wasn't shown at Convention...I guess it didn't go with the color scheme...but let me tell you...COLLEEN LOVED IT...It is SO her...

Let me tell you she is my Colorful teen...she LOVES color...the brighter...the better! I used ALL kinds of color and bling on this page..LOTS of Fire and Ice Rhinestone Brads and even some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter...she loves it...it is her favorite page in her album....for now!

I used Paisley Prints and the Paisley wheel...in LOTS of colors...WAY to many to name...

She was bummed that she didn't make ANY of the display boards this year...she says it's her claim to fame...and was even more disappointed to find out that she was out done by Dixie Lou Dawg....You may have seen her page on the boards....here is a peek at it...

Under the flash glare...it says...Dixie Lou Dawg...stamped directly onto the photo in Staz-On ink..isn't she cute...I sent this 6 x 6 page in when the call went out for Display Stampers...I am so glad I did...and SO glad was chosen!

Check back tomorrow for Kaitlyn's page...

Artisan Award Entry Cards...

Here are the cards that I entered into the Artisan Award Contest...The card and then a detail close-up...

This one is my favorite of the 5 that I sent in...I love this set and how I used the DMC floss to accent the tag...

I thought that I would send in a shaped card and I used the Scallop Circle Die to make this one...again I used the Friends 24-7 stamp set, but this time went girly pink...added some glitter and pearls...

I used Vintage Vogue on this card and really like how the card accent came out...I used the Twill tape and adhered it onto cardstock and ran that through the Big Shot to cut my Scallop circle and attached my flowers and word banner to that...

Again...here I used the Vintage Vogue stamp set and the Tres Chic Background stamp...this card has a LOT of depth and shimmer...I used the Emboss Resist tech on the background and then used the shimmer paint on the flowers...

This was my least favorite card but...I know it was super cute...I used Crystal Effects and MicroBeads for a bit of sparkle...

Well...That's the last of my Artisan Award Entries...For THIS year...yep still have plans to enter next year...already have ideas swirling around in my head...Let me know what you think...

Artisan Award Scrapbook Entry #3...

Here it is...Colleen's scrapbook page for Artisan Award...I just used different sizes of the same photo...She is my kid who LOVES color...the BRIGHTER...the BETTER...

Here are some of the page details...Top Note Die...Ribbon, Brads, Rhinestones, DSP, stamps...lots of crafty goodness....I also used the Clear Window Sheets to mount my letters to as I wanted to be able to see through them and not cover the page elements...

This top Spiral Punched piece comes out and holds the hidden journaling...and of course a pop of color with the DSP...

More bling and a close-up of the Top Note...as you can see the base of the page is Basic Gray smooth cardstock and the Top Notes are Textured Cardstock and then stamped in Basic Gray with the Elements of Style stamp set...

Let me know if you have any questions about any of the page elements...Stay tuned as tomorrow I will be posting ALL 5 of the cards that I sent in...YEP ALL 5...

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Here is the scrapbook page that I made of my oldest for the Artisan Award Contest this year...She was a Senior and Graduated in May...I am NOT one for purple, but she has this jacket that is Rich Razzleberry that we bought last fall that she absolutely LOVES and I made the page to go with what she was wearing in the photo...and LOVED how it turned out...so did she, so that all that matters and the fact that one of the pages that I made is in her album...as I have no idea what SU does with the ones that don't make the boards...YEP...you heard right...this little beauty wasn't on the display boards...none of my scrapbook pages were...but they weren't last year either...which I kinda found puzzling until January when I got an e-mail asking if I would like to be featured in the Stampin Success Demo Newsletter...like anyone would say NO...so here is her page...

I used Rich Razzleberry cardstock and the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP. I also used the Wood Sheets and ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Note Die and then stained it with the Crushed Curry Ink and then stamped it with Chocolate chip ink...I used the Charming stamp set.

Here is a better photo of the title...I used the wide twill tape...I adhered it to Whisper White cardstock and then ran it through the Big Shot and had Twill Tape letters...they really had a nice texture...

Here are a couple of close-ups of the wood sheet and the twill tape letters...

Well...I already have ideas bouncing around in my head for next years Artisan Award entries...I know a lot of people say that they aren't gonna enter again, as it does get expensive with supplies and all, and don't get me wrong...it does, but I enjoy the challenge...so I already know I will enter again...I just need to NOT procrastinate and start my projects WAY earlier than MARCH...

So stay tuned to see Colleen's scrapbook page tomorrow and all the cards that I sent in on Wednesday...then I will start showing the Display Board stuff...

Happy Stamping...

WELL...

Those automatic posts...those ones that I set up to post while I was at Convention...DIDN't HAPPEN...SORRY...and I was staying at the Marriot where you have to pay an arm and a leg in extra fees to have internet access during your wonderful super expensive stay, so I shose to save the cost of the daily internet rate and buy myself some more stamps...SORRY, I know it was selfish...but stamps are gonna win EVERYTIME! I have a LOT of stuff to post over the next few days, So I will be posting A LOT...starting with my NON-WINNING...NON-HONORABLE MENTION Artisan Award Entries...YEP...It was a TOTAL disappointment, but I did get to be a display stamper this year AND I got to see my cards on the Display Boards...Today I will start with Reilly's scrapbook page and I will post more tomorrow...

Reilly is my kid who doesn't mind being alone as long as there is a computer nearby...He loves the outdoors and likes to spend time by the creek...I took him for a photo shoot at one of his favorite places to hang out earlier this spring...Here is his page...

I added the Clock from Sense of Time and stamped it with Satz-On onto the Window Sheet I attached it to the page with Stampin Dimensionals hidden under the quote...

I then used my Big Shot to cut out the letters...stamped them with the quote and then coated each letter with Crystal effects.

I also stamped the background with the gears and used the Jumbo Eyelets on the page with were threaded and tied with Basic Gray Taffeta ribbon...

I really enjoyed the process of making this page for Reilly's album and I am ALWAYS happy that I make TWO of everything that I submit...NO REGRETS...when I don't win...

Check back tomorrow for another scrapbook page or two...I am off to a job interview...wish me luck!

DAY ONE...

Today is our first day of Convention...I can't wait to go and get our bags...what will they look like this year...what will be in Memento Mall...I get to go in early...YEP...I will be in the VIP line at MM this year and get to enter at 8:00 a whole hour BEFORE everyone else...I am so excited...I hate to leave my roomies in that LONG line by themselves, but ...I have some consolation prizes for them...their roommate gifts...

Every year I make them each a bag tag with their name or initial on it...this year it's their name...I used LOTS of new things...the new Cork, the new Scallop Punch, new Antique Brads, new Chantilly Lace and I think that they turned out really CUTE...Flowers made out of CORK with the Big Shot Flower Die...

Here is a piece of jewelry that I made for each of them out of the Antique Brads and some chain that I bought at Hobby Lobby and of course I added a bit of the Chantilly Lace.

I also made them another piece of jewelry...a ring...I am sure that it will probably turn their finger green, but it's the thought that counts...RIGHT...and I know that I will wear mine for a while...again I used the Antique Brads and a ring blank from Hobby Lobby...

I hope that they enjoy what I made them this year and that they like wearing them even if it turns their fingers green...everyone else will be green with envy...

Happy Stamping...

Artisan Award 3-D Entry #2...

Well...I am sure, I am busy this morning... getting the final stuff together for Convention...we are leaving the house between 11:00 and 11:30 for the airport...my flight is at 2:32...maybe I will meet some local demos at the airport on the way to SLC...I am starting to get excited...there is still a lot to do as Kaitlyn has a cough, a pretty good one and needs to go to the DR in the morning and get checked out...she has a date to go to MEPS to get processed but if her cough doesn't go away before Friday...she can't go and it will have to be delayed...so it's to the DR for her first thing in the morning...and I am off to Wal-Mart at 10:00 sharp to pick up photos so I can get them in the mail to my niece that was here visiting us for three weeks, she left yesterday and I told her that I would get them in the mail to her before I left for Convention...nothing like leaving it to the last minute...but I THRIVE under pressure...just look at the Display Samples that I did for Convention once you get there and remember that the ones that I made...those were made during a MOVE across the country...and I didn't start them until June 15 and they had to SU by July 6th...and was the July 4th Holiday...BUT I got them done...

Well...onto another project that DIDN'T win Artisan Award for me...another 3-D project...again...I always make 2 of everything that I send in, so I have no regrets that I didn't keep that for me when it didn't win the contest that I sent it in for....Here it is...Home Sweet Home...YEP...I MADE WOOD! Doesn't it look real? If it looks real on the computer screen, you should see it in person...it REALLY looks like WOOD...

Here are some close-ups of the roses...I textured the letters with the polka dot embossing folder and then I used Crystal Effects to make the dots shiny...the roses and leaves are crumpled, textured and distressed...it took a LONG time to cut out all of the roses espically when making two, but I am EXTREMELY happy that I have one of these for me...

I hope you are enjoying seeing my Artisan Award Entries...I am always hopeful every year when I send them in and am on pins and needles until after the deadline for contacting the winners...one of these days I am hoping to actually win...It was SUPER EXCITING last year when they announced at Convention the Honorable Mentions...so I am hoping that since I wasn't a winner again this year that I am an Honorable Mention again...It would be nice if the HM's got a certificate...I asked about that last year...something acknowledging that they came close...I figured that SU! could print them themselves, CHEAP...and mail them...I wanted something to hang on the wall...I mean...it's not $500.00 in product and $500.00 cash...just a piece of paper...but it would have been a really PRETTY piece of paper hanging in my Studio...so I will keep trying to actually win and maybe one day...I WILL!

Happy Stamping...

And IT begins...

The RUSH to finalize everything and the make sure EVEYTHING is done before you leave...As the house will fall apart and no one can do anything with out you right there syndrome...YEAH...ya'll know what I mean...all the little things that no one BUT YOU can make decisions about...like what can I eat for breakfast...can I go play with my friends...anyway...I have lots of things that I will be scheduling to show ya'll later today for while I am away at Convention, but as I was gone visiting Kirk's sister and her family yesterday I thought that I would start a couple of days early and start today...OKAY the truth IS...I have nothing new stamped...that's my real reason...

I am going to show ya'll my FAVORITE Artisan Award entry that I made this year to send in...it was one of my 3-D items and I really hope that someone has it at home and is enjoying it...and remember that pictures do NOT do it justice...it is SO MUCH PRETTIER IN PERSON...REMEMBER...I make TWO of everything...so I have one to keep and one for SU!...so I have one TOO! Here it is...

YEP...Birds in a pickle jar...up on a pedastal...ain't they cute...I sure thought so...here are some close-ups

Mama bird in her cardstock nest and her three eggs...as I have three kids...

Daddy bird flying through the air...he is mounted to the pickle jar lid

Another view of the entire jar...

And here is the outside decorations...lots of ribbons and banner that says "Bless Our Nest"

I used the Chipboard Birds that are now retired and covered them with DSP. Made the nest out of Cardstock...and went to town decorating the birds and jar with pearls glitter and rhinestones from the egg kit out of the mini...and LOTS of ribbon...no one in my house really likes pickles so the pickles were sacrificed for the sake of the project and if you open the jar today...still smells a LOT like pickles...so of course it stays sealed...but it is SUPER CUTE to look at...I got the candle stick and wooden plate at Goodwill and spary painted them off white and then glazed over that with a brown so it looked aged...

Hope you liked my 3-D project...Hope to see it at Convention and I hope that someone else is enjoying it on their desk or at their home as much as I am enjoying mine...

I've created a MONSTER...

A Monster of a MESS...Do you see this...This is what I was working in yesterday...this MESS...

YEP...and I didn't even get much done...Nope...I had to take Colleen to the Dr...she has a UTI poor thing...and then when I got home at 4pm the hubby wanted to go to Frys...all the way in Irving...in traffic...so of course...I went...so I got NO actual stamping done...I did get my roommate gifts designed, so that was something, but EVERYTHING needs to be done today...I KNOW I have told people that...and they keep dragging me away from my studio...from these...

They HAVE to get done TODAY...we are going out of town all day tomorrow and we are going to be busy most of the day on Monday...I leave on Tuesday for Convention.,..I really don't want to be sitting at the airport or on the plane finishing these...and the reason why...I ALWAYS forget something...ALWAYS...so I want them done BEFORE I go...I wnat them done TODAY...anyone want to come and help out?

Wish me luck...Sorry there isn't a new card for you to see...hopefully these can get done and I can actually stamp something tonight for you to see tomorrow...and my plan for while I am away at Convention is to show ya'll my SPECTACULAR non-winning Artisan Award entries...I am still hoping to be an Honorable Mention again this year...I figure one of these years they will take pity on me and let me win it...

Still working...

Well...I didn't get that much done on my swaps yesterday, but we did get Kaitlyn to the Air Force recruiter and most of her paperwork filled out...we have to go back on Monday to finish it up...they need copies of the other kids Birth Certificates from the British Embassy since they were born overseas and they rest of the paperwork filled out...it seems they need to know everyone that Kaitlyn has come in contact with since birth...name, address, social security number and where they are now located...just kidding...it's not quite that in depth, but they do need to names and address of people who have known of Kaitlyn's whereabouts for over 10 years and they can't be family members...do you know how hard that is to come by when you are a military family who moves and you have to remember who you were friends with when you were 7 and need their address now at 17 and 4 moves later...IMPOSSIBLE...but we will get it done...before Monday...and once all the paperwork is done she will be going to MEPS...the processing center...at the end of the month (27th or 28th) to do more paperwork...THEN it is a waiting game...wait until they have her job open and they are ready for her to go to Basic Training sometime in the fall...her journey as an adult to begin...

Now that I am all teary eyed...onto the card...after we got back yesterday, I worked on my swaps, finished my backgrounds and cut all the ribbons...then I made this card...

RUNNING UPDATE: Well...I did run yesterday...and I ran farther than I ran before...met my goal of running to the school before I started walking and I'm not going to tell you how far away the school is...because you will laugh...so you can only imagine that it isn't that far...then I walked a bit then ran again...and walked a bit then ran again...when Kaitlyn and I were running back I met my goal of running from the corner to the fence...now that was really hard and she said MOM...next time you can run from the corner to the fence at the school which is only about 20 more steps or so and I said how about we just do to the fence again...that was really hard...BABY STEPS...it has been 20 years since I ran...BABY STEPS...but I am doing it...no Marathons in my future, but I would like to be able to run to the pool and back which is a WHOLE MILE...BABY STEPS...

I think I need a cup of coffee...

I KNOW I need me cup of coffee and I don't even like coffee...going to bed late and getting up early...it's wearing on me...I need naps...I LIKE naps...but NAPS in this house...not so easy to come by as they were before we moved...our room here is right beside the living room...and the only TV in the house, so you can see why right there...NO NAPS...but I really want one!

I even tried the other day and made the kids go to the pool, they were gone about an hour or so, just as I settled in and about 20 minutes after I had put my book down to go to sleep...they were back with their LOUDNESS, and the bickering...so again...NO NAP...then since they are teenagers and it's SUMMERTIME and remember I have one who is almost 18 they think that they can stay up till all hours of the night...

I don't get to sleep until 1 or 2 am and then Kirk's alarm on his phone is set to go off at 7 am...but does he get up...nope...he just turns it off and rolls over and goes back to sleep...RETIREMENT...I need some of that TOO...that DANG ALARM...it just wakes me up...just enough where I can't go back to sleep because it's daylight outside and I have a million card ideas rolling around in my head that need to be brought out into the light...so what do I do...GET UP of course...and then the cycle starts all over again...

Here is a card that I made last night after I quit working on my Convention swaps...ya'll will be happy to hear that my Movement swap is completed and am over 1/2 done with my WOW card swap as I FINISHED cutting out the 90 birdcages for my card yesterdaay...I hope to finish the WOW swap today...Now onto today's card...

Yep...another cute one...even if I do say so myself..

Here are the card details:

STAMPS: Morning Cup, Well Worn Background
CARDSTOCK: Pink Pirouette (4 1/4 x 11), Rich Razzleberry (1 1/4 x 4 1/4), Crumb Cake (1/4 sheet), Whisper White (Scraps)

TODAY...Hard at work...WILL work Hard

I hope today will allow me to be hard at work on my Swaps for Convention...I was working a bit on them yesterday, after we got back from shopping...but not nearly enough...I think I might even recruit the kiddos to do some of the Big Shot work and the sponging that needs to be done... I need to get them finished...now that they are started...so I can work on the million and one other card ideas that are swirling around in my head...along with all the ideas for my roommate gifts...NEED to get working on those also...

Ya'll will be happy to know that I did take a break....After Kaitlyn sweet-talked me into running with her and we got back I made this sweet little number...YEP, folks...You HEARD it here first...I said RUNNING...That was the reason for our shopping trip yesterday...Kaitlyn is getting ready to join the Air Force in the fall and has started running and needed GOOD running shoes and I told her that I would run with her...what was I THINKING?!?It's been alsmost 20 years since I ran...and then I HAD TO, but I told her I would...So we bought new shoes yesterday and went running last night...I made it about a block and a half before...yep...I was walking...Kaitlyn ran 1/2 mile...I ran walked that 1/2 mile to catch up to her and then we ran / walked back...I figure that it might take a couple of months before I can run any distance...I need to get use to running with out being able to breathe...you see I purchased my first Sports Bra yesterday also...as the girls like to move around while I run and they were cinched in so tight that I could hardly breathe it seemed like...so it will take some getting use to, but I know that I can do it...My goal is to be able to run the 1 1/2 miles with her before she leaves in the fall...

NOW...Back to the regularly scheduled progrm...

Here it is...My super cute and simple card...

And here is a close up of the bow / button

Here is what I used:

STAMPS: Aviary, Tiny Tags
CARDSTOCK: Old, Olive (4 1/4 x 11), Whisper White (3 3/4 x 5, scrap)

FINALLY...Have them started...BARELY

YEP...I have FINALLY...STARTED on my Convention swaps...I have signed up for TWO Organized swaps...One is a movement swap...the cards need to have some type of movement on them...I have those designed and I have started cutting the cardstock for those and I am only making 24 of those....the other organized swap I am doing is a WOW swap...that one has about 130 participants, but you don't have to make that many cards...so I am only making 90 swaps for that one as that is how many cards I can make with the supplies I had for the colors I wanted to use for the design I wanted to make...did that make any sense? Both of these swaps reqiure FULL cards...which I prefer...that is what I make even when I swap on the general floor...so they do use more cardstock...SO since I was designing swap cards and starting the cutting process last night I did NOT get any stamping done...

SO...I when I got up this morning, while waiting on the girls to get ready to go shopping, I made this little beauty...TOO CUTE!!

Here is what I used:

STAMPS: Morning Cup, Take A Sip (Wheel)
CARDSTOCK: Real Red ( 4 1/4 x 11), Whisper White ( 1/4 sheet), Baja Breeze (1 x 4), Daffodill Delight (2 1/4 x 1 1/8), Pear Pizzaz (Scrap)
INK: Real Red, Staz-On - Jet Black
ACCESSORIES: Markers (Real Red, Pear Pizzaz, Daffodill Delight), Big Shot, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Wheel Handle, Corner Rounder, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Stampin Dimensionals, Pear Pizzaz 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon

What do you think? Hope you like it...Happy stamping...and wish me luck on getting my swaps done in a timely manner as then I need to start on roommate gifts...and then if I have enough time...General Swaps...

10 DAYS...I should have started sooner...DARN MOVE!

Late...but accomplished...

I was gone yesterday...ALL DAY...gone on a mission...on a mission to find that EVER ELUSIVE table...went to two Antique Malls and an Antique store...came home with zip, zilch, nada, nothing...it was a BUST...saw a LOT of CUTE stuff that I would have liked to have, but as I said...I was on a mission...I have a feeling that I am going to end up making that darn table...I really don't want to make it I want something old and unique...I will give it a couple of months...okay...in reality...probably until I get back from Convention...then something has to be done...I have to have someplace for people to stamp IN my studio...otherwise...NO ONE will EVER want to come and play....

So...Since I was gone all day...no stamping was accomplished...so when I got up this morning, while waiting on my SU! Sale-A-Bration freebie stamps to arrive (along with the second order that I placed yesterday from the new catalog and had over-nighted...SHHH...DON'T tell my man...I made this card...LOVE this set and of course had to have these little kids...

Stamps: Greeting Card Kids, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock: Basic Black (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 & 5 1/4 x 4), Whisper White (4 x 5 1/2 (torn), Scrap)
Inks: Staz-On - Jet Black, White CRAFT Pad, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, So Saffron
Accessories: Big Shot, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

So...now that I have to be here ALL day...I am waiting for the movers to come back and pick up all of the empty flat packed boxes and all of the boxes that are filled with packing paper...they are suppose to show up SOMETIME today...I won't hold my breathe though, as they were SUPPOSE to be here on Tuesday and NEVER showed...I want this stuff out of my garage...so that the stuff that IS ours and is suppose to actually be stored in there...can go out there and get out of the other areas of my house...

SO...now that I have to be here ALL day...with MORE NEW stuff from SU!...you know I am gonna be stamping...of course I do need to start working on my swaps for Convention sometime soon as I leave in about 10 days and haven't started them yet...but I work best under pressure...or so I keep telling myself...

Now...onto the stamping...

I want it NOW...

Well...have you ever decided you want something...something specific...and you start obsessing over it...then you start shopping for it...thinking it shouldn't be too hard to find...and then get all frustrated becuase you then can't find what you are looking for...it's happening to me and it is VERY ANNOYING!! Here is my delima...

My new Stamping Studio here in the Great and AWESOME state of TEXAS is actually the dining room in this house...it is a pass through room from when you come in the front door you have to pass through the Studio to get into the Kitchen and Family room...well, I have my work Island set up where the dining table should go and I really like it there, and our dining room table is in the Kitchen as it is large enough...But I have this problem...my problem is that I don't really like stamping alone...I am a SOCIAL STAMPER...

At the last house from my Studio space I could very easily work at my Island and see /talk to whoever happened to be stamping and scrapbooking with me...in the dining room...here that is not the case...there is this thing called a WALL in the way...so my solution...I want a table...to put on the other side of my island...a long and narrow one...I need it to be between 64-69" long and 18-24" wide...and dining table height...I know that they exist...I just can't see to find one...It is playing hide and seek with me...eluding ALL of my efforts to find it...I have looked at all of the local thrift stores (that I know of...remember I have only been here a month) and I have even started looking at Antique stores (the ONE that I found...need to go back SOON) but my shopping trips were all FAILURES...I got nothing...AND I WANT IT NOW...in my best Veruca Salt impersonation...

I KNOW that if I get impatient and SETTLE on something then I will go into another store a few days later and there it will be the PERFECT...table...but it is HARD to wait...but I am gonna...and my husband has justified it and said...All your stamping friends are in another state anyway...so there is NO HURRY...no hurry...NO HURRY...I know he doesn't get it...but I need to be ready, ready for the heaps and piles of friends that I am going to make......OKAY...now that I have gotten that off of my chest...wanna be my FRIEND? Apparently I need some friends here in TX...so if you are anywhere in TX or near Ft. Worth drop me a line...maybe I can justify, to my man, searching for my table a bit harder

NOW...Onto the card for today...

How's that for some numbers... 3 for 3...WOW! I am impressed with my self...now today I need to stamp or I will not have much left to show you for the rest of the week...BUT...that shouldn't be hard as I have NEW stuff to play with...YEP my order from the NEW IB&C arrived yesterday...the only thing I did with it was unpacked it and put the stamps together...but they are all ready for me to get started with some crafty goodness...so hopefully my mojo is flowing and I can crank out some spectacular stuffs...

Here is my card for today...

I really like this color combination...I saw it on someone else's blog...have no idea where...SORRY, I wrote down the colors and even sketched out the layout of the card, but NOT where I saw it...I need to get better at that...it wasn't an SU! blog or stamps...so I adapted it...and of course I used a new stamp set and some new colors...Here's what was used:

Stamps: Just Believe, Hello Again
Cardstock: Peach Parfait (4 1/4 x 11, Scrap), Pear Pizzaz ( 4 x 3/4, 4 x 1/2), Whisper White (Scrap)
