I made Stamper's Showcase again...

I guess it does pay to send in cards...Well, I wish it paid for me. I never seem to win the contests, just get put onto Stamper's Showcase. They like to showcase my work, just not give me the FREE rubber. I just wish you got SOMETHING from them when they choose YOUR card to display. Even something small a wheel, buttons, brads, something...OH WELL...I do enjoy the recognition.

Talking about recognition...I had e-mailed another demonstrator who is located in Woodland (the next town over) because I didn't realize there were any demos there, and asked if whe would like to get together to stamp sometime...when she e-mailed me back she had said that it was like getting e-mail from a celebrity...that she read my blog...Hi Renee...and loved my cards. Well, needless to say...I had NEVER thought of myself as a celebrity...except while I was looking in the mirror, winking at myself, 'cause I looked good...so I got a bit of a chuckle...Me a celebrity...NOPE not right now...maybe someday...I am just someone who loves what she does and is pretty good at it!

Anyway...here is the card that is helping me gain my celebrity status...Ya'll have seen it before, but here it is again...

I really liked how this card turned out. I used the Craft stampin' spots on the brown cardstock...the only sets I used were Heartfelt Thanks and the Canvas Background stamp. Pretty simple card, but really cute...

Check back tomorrow, for what I was gonna upload today...Before I was sidetracked by working on becoming a STAMPING CELEBRITY...

I GOT IT...I GOT IT...

I GOT IT!!! I can't believe that I couldn't wait just ONE more day...I called around yesterday afternoon to some other demo friends to see if ANYONE had received their catalogs yet...and my friend Carla had...SO I drove over 30 minutes one way to pick one up...I just HAD to have it. I am tired of being the last one to get stuff...So then once I had it in my hands...I was very good...I went to Kinko's and talked them into binding it right away for me...no going all the way back to Vacaville to pick it up...and then I drove home very carefully...without looking at the catalog while driving...I was really restraining myself...

BUT...let me tell you once I got home...you couldn't get the catalog out of my hands or get my attention for anything! I was on the phone all evening discussing...you guessed it...the catalog...Would you like to see it? Of course not ya'll have WAY more patience than I do...So how about I show you an updated photo of me instead...

Of course...I said that you couldn't get the catalog out of my hands...did you think I wasn't going to mark this moment in time...in history. The first time I held the 2007 Fall-Winter catalog...I take photos of EVERYTHING!!! So there you go...an updated photo of me (84 lbs lighter than 7 months ago) and the NEW CATALOG!! I promise I will have lots of cards and samples to show you in a couple of weeks. I can't post my Display Stamper stuff until later in July...but I will have some other things to show you soon...

A Hectic 4 days...LONG

I know that I haven't posted since Thursday, and I am very sorry! I have been extremely busy. Our squadron Commander is leaving us and moving on to a new assignment...his going away BBQ was on Thursday at lunchtime. I was "Volentold" to make baked beans for 150 people. Not a problem baked beans are one of my specialities...well...I made them Thur morning...took precautions for spillage by laying down trash bags in the back cargo area of my car...drove VERY carefully the 40 minutes to base. BBQ wasn't where I expected it to be, so I call Kirk...he says to take them across the street and over to the hanger...Turn into the driveway for the hanger...BIG...HUGE BUMP...&%^&$%#$&...so I park and am not too worried...I took precautions. Opened the back gate of the car and I see A DISASTER...Yep...you guessed it BEANS EVERYWHERE!!! It's okay I took precaustions right...WRONG!!! Slid off the trash bags and ran down where the seats fold down...Beans Everywhere! I was SO UPSET...My car is just now a year old, and I LOVE it...I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber...I LOVE my car. So...I called Kirk and was VERY GRUMPY and told him to come NOW and bring stuff so HE could clean up this mess...after all he "Volentold" me...He showed up a few minutes later with about 30 napkins (granted they were big) and some General Purpose Cleaner...I was just in tears...Needless to say we TRIED to clean it the best we could...
I know this is long...but...the story isn't over...So let me continue...
We cleaned it up (a bit)...then we attended the Commander's BBQ. After the BBQ I took the car to the local car wash / detailers...They said that it shouldn't be a problem to get it all out since it had just occurred and should only take about 45 minutes...$115.00...1 1/2 later...they are done...did they get it all out...NOPE carpet is STAINED, back of the seats are stained...so I sigh...suck up my tears and go to my doctors appt that I am almost going to be late for...I stop by the squadron before I head home to talk to Kirk...he has to stay late for an Airmen Leadership Graduation...he was a bit miffed that I had paid $115.00 and the carpet was stained...but he said that he would clean it up and get the stain out this weekend...GREAT!!!

Friday...I get up and drive the 40 minutes to base and attend the Change of Command Ceremony...It was really nice...a real tear jerker. I am going to really miss Kirk's old Commander...he is a GREAT GUY! Then, I have other things to do...I go to the BX and then the onto Commissary and get groceries...Now my car has been basically BAKING in the sun all day, but...it's clean right, just stained...I get into the car for the ride home and my car is really starting to smell...I really don't like the air freshner from the car wash...It STINKS...smells that the stuff they carry on buses for when kids get sick...that sawdust stuff...I was really getting sick from the smell...so I rolled the windows down for the trip home...Kirk is going to clean the stains up tomorrow...YEAH.

Friday night...I taught a class...had lots of fun...

Saturday morning...another class...lots more fun...
THEN IT HAPPENED...
HONEY...
WE HAVE A PROBLEM...

I went out to the garage, and he had taken the cargo floor out of the car...YEP...guess what he found...BEANS!!! LOTS and LOTS of BEANS...They went EVERYWHERE...He ended up having to take the backseat COMPLETELY out of the car, but of course, this was after I had to get into the AWFUL SMELLING car and drive into town to get the correct tools...apparently...it takes a SPECIAL bit to get the screws out, so while I was in town...the auto parts store is right beside the Dollar Store...I went shopping...I NEEDED some retail thearapy...It has been a very stressful last few days...Well...got home...got the seat out LOTS of MOLD...already...so then I ended up cleaning all the beans out of the cracks & crevaces in the car...so that was my Saturday night...
My weekend plans REARRANGED! I was going to stamp, and Kirk was going to clean...OH WELL...He did get the stain out of the carpet in the cargo area, and he is going to try and get the stains out of the carpet on the back of the seats...

So that is what we did this weekend...
I finally did get to stamp this evening...I needed some stress releaf. Kaitlyn also made brownees and I'm going to have one of those in a bit...Triple Chocolate Brownees...YUM!! I really need one...

So here is the card I made...I know ya'll probably skipped over most of my story, but I know some of you feel my pain...did I say that I LOVED my little car...Okay...Okay...I'll get on with the card...

Zoofari again...and a really simple card...

Thanks for putting up with my rant...Please leave a comment and tell me I am not alone in the Food spilled in the car disasters...

Pratical Punches & Stylish Scallops...

You've probably noticed how everything from dishes to clothing is making waves with scalloped edges this year. The vintage feel mingles feminine curves with modern flair. You'll find this look easy to duplicate using only Stampin' Up! products.

To create a perfectly simple scalloped edge, use either the Slit Punch or Small Corner Rounder Punch. The Slit Punch creates a deeper scallop, while the Small Corner Rounder Punch produces a shallow scallop. To use the Small Corner Rounder Punch, first remove the plastic guide and insert a flat edge of the cardstock into the punch. After punching once, continue to line up the edge of the punch with the previous punched scallop for the entire length of the cardstock, sliding the punch over after each punch and lining the edges up. It's that simple!

This card was made using the pick A Petal stamp set, one of the new DS Papers, a Rhinestone Brad and the Slit Punch for the scallops

This card was made using the new Pick a Petal stamp set, some of the new DS Papers and the Small Corner Rounder for the scallops. I also used one of the new Rhinestone Brads.

I've Been working on a class...

...but I can't show it to ya'll until I send out my Newsletter later this week. If you would like to see it in my Newsletter, you can sign up for it over on the right.

Here is something else I whipped up tonight. I scrapped Reilly playing Catch a couple of months ago. I am sending a similar page into Stampin' Up! for one of their contests this month. The Round Tab Punch on the bottom left is actually there so you can lift the flap and see more photos underneath. Also the round circle and the scallop edge along the top of the photo pulls out to see and read the journaling...I think it turned out really nice...I can't say "cute", 'cause he's a boy...a 13 year old boy...you know how they can be! Please leave me a comment and let me know how you like it!

Here is what Shannon had to say:

Congrats!! I have to say I really enjoy your BLOG!My favorite set as of right now is..Dream Come True. LOVE IT!

Thanks Shannon...I am really enjoying this blogging thing...It is keeping me stamping and showing off my work. I get hounded if I don't post everyday, so I have to keep coming up with new stuff to show ya'll.

Here is a close up of the last card...

As you can see I pulled the color combo of this card from the ribbon. I used the Pick a Petal stamp set. Just the small flower and one of the Large Petals...I stamped the large petal in Rose Red and then used the 1/2" cicle punch to punch out just one flower...mounted it in the center and added a colored brad. I used the Word Window punch to make the bracket to weave the Sweet Shoppe Ribbon through to hold the card closed...I also accented the card with some of the new DS papers that will be in the new Fall/Winter catalog. I will have more new tomorrow, so check back...

Tonight is the Night...

I will pick the MY VERY FIRST WINNER of Blog Candy. I can't believe how much the counter has moved. Monday I hit 2,000 and right now I am almost at 2,600. I will close the Blog Candy at 8:00 my time, so you still have a couple of hours to comment. Here is another one of the cards that I am giving away...

I used the Baroque Motifs stamp set, and some of the NEW DS Paper that will be available next month. And of course I had to use some BLING...I really LOVE those new Rhinestone brads! So if you want a chance to get this beauty in your mailbox, the please leave a comment on my Blog Candy post...Check back in the morning for the winner...

WOW!...The Counter is really climbing!

I can't believe how quickly the counter is climbing...I keep checking back and the number is getting bigger and bigger. It was just this morning that I hit 2,000 views and now we are over 2,300. Creeping closer to 2,400...again, WOW! Now, all I need to do is to get more people to comment! About 350 views and only 24 comments. I know that is a TON of comments for me, since I only have one or two on each post before that, but who doesn't want FREE stuff...even if it is just cards...they are really cute...cuter than my Mama's...not that she thinks so or anything...

Here's her comment from yesterday...I know she just wants the cards, but come on now...who's cards are cuter than mine? No ones I tell ya!! No ones!!
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "2,000 Views...It's time for BLOG CANDY":
OK. Here's my favorite all time set and I don't care if it is retiring. Nice & Easy Notes. If I can't come up with something to make a card this set will always work for me. My next favorite--all of them. It really depends on my mood. Same with the colors--I love them all. Yes, your cards are cute, but some of mine are cutier. Ha Ha!! Now I've commented for you, Twila. Love you. Your Mama
She makes me laugh...Mama, I love you too. Now I'm off to make some cuter cards than her...Here's one of the REALLY CUTE ones that you could win for yourself...A TwilaMooneyham Original! This one was made with the Zoofari set...the Rhino that my Mama likes so much...he is SO CUTE! He just makes me SMILE!
At first I didn't really like this set...it was just okay...but now it ranks higher than Baroque Motifs. I really love it...So if you want a chance to have this card and 5 other ones, then go down to the next post and leave a comment answering my question. I will choose a winner on Wednesday evening...

2,000 Views...It's time for BLOG CANDY

WOW!! 2,000 view in the 6 weeks that I've had my blog...Most of those in the last 2-3 weeks...Thanks to Sandy! Now that I've hit 2,000 it's time for Blog Candy....

So here is what I'm giving away...A set of 6 cards made with the new Fall/Winter Collection stamp sets.
But...there is a Catch...Isn't there always? The catch is that you actually have to answer a question by leaving a comment...The question is:

RIGHT NOW...What is your favorite Stampin' Up! Set?

I know that will change as soon as the NEW catalog is unveiled on July 1st, but for now...Mine is Zoofari...Love the birds, and the Rhino.

I will have more upclose photos of the cards I'm giving away as the week goes on, so keep checking back. I will give away the cards on Wednesday evening, so please comment on your favorite SU! Stamp set right now for a chance to receive these in the mail...

Here is the first one...

I made this card for the June Stampin' Up! Contest - "The Great White" using White Staz-On Ink. I know SU! has discontinued the Window Sheets, but I never used them anyway. I have always cut down page protectors to use as my clear plastic. So that is what I did here. I used the Key Tag Punch to punch the window, and stamped the White Staz-On on the Page Protector that I cut down to size. I then mounted the plastic behind the window. I think it turned out really cute...Now all I have to do is send it in today and WIN...I need new rubber!!!

So keep checking back to see more cards that could be yours....

More questions...More Answers

What do you consider some of the easiest techniques for beginners?

Embossing is always a BIG WOW!! It’s not hard, you just need a few tools. Also Crayon Resist…looks complicated, but it is SO SIMPLE!!

What embellishment is your favorite?

MicroBeads as I've already stated, and Colored Brads are a close second…They give just the right amount of accent…in great colors to match our stuff, and they don’t require a lot of extra gadgets to use.

What is your favorite "word" set?

Cheery Chat…I am really sad about it retiring…Hopefully there will some great new sets in the catalog next month.

What is your favorite "flower" set?

Sets…can I say sets…Watercolor Garden, Roses In Winter, In Full Bloom. Those were my three favorite flower sets…now I will have to pick new ones since ALL THREE are retiring…

What is one of your favorite "projects" to make when you need a quick gift?

To tell you the truth, I don’t make a lot of gifts…I really just like stamping for myself…And ya’ll are slave drivers always wanting to see new samples, so that is where I am going now…TO STAMP!

So, Check back soon…

Zoofari...

Such a cute set...I really liked the birds...so that is the stamp that I played with first. Very simple but cute card. I even used some of the ribbon that I received yesterday.

Haven't done much stamping today...just a bit...I used the Zoofari set again, but you will have to wait until tomorrow to see that, 'cause I'm not finished with them yet, and I'm leaving in a bit to do a workshop. I will post the cards from my workshop once I get home...I am hoping to book some workshops tonight for later this month or next, so wish me luck...

Thursday, June 7, 2007

THANK YOU for the ribbon!

Sandy, Thank You SO MUCH for the ribbon...I love it. I knew you said that you were going to send me some, but I never expected to receive so much. Now...I have to go and play with it...Again...Thanks

Lovin' the new sets...

Here is another card that I made last night. I am lovin' the new stamp sets and the Rhinestone brads...I will have to order ALL the others...I had been looking at Splitcoast in the Pick a Petal Gallery and hadn't really liked a lot of the cards that I saw, so I didn't know how well I was going to like this set once it arrived...WELL, now that I got to play with it...I am really liking it. I am hoping that a punch for the petals will follow in the New catalog next month, but on the upside, they are NOT difficult or that time consuming to just cut out on their own. So if there is not punch, then I will just continue to cut them out.

On this card I stamped the petals in Tempting Turquoise and then cut them out and mounted them onto Real Red cardstock. Then I cut them out again before I mounted them onto the Whisper White. I know a LOT of cutting, but didn't it turn out SO CUTE! I am addicted to Polka Dots this season...just ask my kids. I have a couple of shirts and even a polka dotted purse. Lovin' the dots...

Today I am planning on inking up my Zoofari stamp set, so keep checking back...Please let me know what you think of my cards and leave a comment.

First Sample from the 2007-2008 Fall Collection

Here it is my first sample card from the 2007 Fall Collection. I was so excited to see this swirly stamp in the Preview Brochure. I had been wanting a really nice swirl stamp and Stampin' Up! finally provided me with one. I was excited to see it because I knew that I wanted to use my reinkers and make the swirl varigated...I also LOVE the Rhinestone Brads...they are going to add just the right amount of bling...Then I thought that it needed depth, so I added some lines and dots with my Basic Black marker...

So what do you think? Please leave me a comment and let me know...

IT'S HERE...IT'S HERE...

I got back from shopping with the girls...they need more shorts for summer. Do you know how hard it is to find shorts that AREN'T cut up to there...and you know what I mean. My girls really like the Bermuda shorts and I'm glad that they are back in style, but it is still hard to find cute ones. Kailtyn is all set now...she has a plaid pair, a red pair, a khaki pair, and today we got her a demin pair. So she is all set now. We even got her some shirts the other day for school.
Yeah, I know, they just got out a week and a half ago, can you tell I'm ready for them to go back? No really, I usually start shopping for school clothes as soon as they get out for the summer. I shop sales and clearance...I keep the receipts and the tags STAY ON the items. They are not allowed to wear them. Then a week or so before school starts...we have a fashion show to see what still fits and what needs to be returned. If it is past the stores return policy, they will give you store credit and we get something that fits...This is how I don't go broke at the end of summer. I procrastinated a couple of years ago, and I didn't do this, I spent over $800.00 in one day getting them ready for school. Nothing was really on sale and the clearance was all picked over, so now I make sure to start school shopping EARLY...

Enough about shopping...on to what came today...I got the stuff I ordered from the Preview brochure...IT'S HERE...Now to go an put it together and start making samples. I even planned my week so that I don't have to go anywhere for a couple of days so I could just stamp...so check back and see some NEW stuff soon...

Here is what I ordered....Baroque Motifs, Pick a Petal, Zoofari, Holidays & Wishes, Hugs & Wishes, and the thing I'm most excited about...Fire Circle Rhinestone Brads. I can't wait to play with those...

More Questions and Answers

Here are some more questions and answers...keep them coming,. they really make think and plus...it gives me something to talk about.

What do you think will be your favorite shade of the new “In Colors” that will be released in the new catty?

I really like the Wild Wasibi color…To me it is a cross between Certainly Celery and Garden Green. I also like saying it…almost as much as So Saffron.

What “In Color” will you miss the most?

Hands Down…Cool Caribbean.

What’s your favorite embellishment?

MicroBeads…I just hate that they bounce around and get everywhere, even when you use the Powder Pals…BUT I LOVE the way they look. I am hoping for microbeads in different colors in the new catalog, of course I hoped for that last year too and it didn’t happen.

What’s your favorite technique?

I really like Crayon Resist…it is so simple, but it packs a punch. It is really a WOW! Technique, but not one that takes a lot of effort…Who would have ever thought that I would buy a new package of crayons just for the WHITE…isn’t most paper white??? I have dug through all the kids old crayons boxes and used all of the whites up…now if I want a new white crayon…I have to buy a new box…

Well...that's enogh questions for today...Now onto the card. I am posting some MANLY cards this week, as it is getting closer to Father's Day. This is a card I made for a swap a couple of months ago. We were asked to use the Artifacts stamp set. It was one of the FEW MANLY stamp sets that I owned. I really hope they are going to have some great new sets in the catalog next month...but I know that they ALWAYS do...

Simply Said...I cleaned A LOT today...

...and I got one card made. Using the Simply Said stamp set. I am in a monthly swap with some other ladies in my sideline and the set choosen for this month was Simply Said...as I don't have this set...I had to borrow it. THANKS Kara!!

As I said...I did get a lot of cleaning, straightening, and sorting done today. I cleaned and straightened my stamp studio, sorted a ton of papers and threw a lot away...and I even got all of my contacts for the squadron, our families, and my business typed into Outlook. Let me tell you...that took a while. But now that it is done...it will make it so much easier to send emails and find customers information...Hopefully I will keep it updated...

My pre-order is still sitting in "CLOSED" status...hopefully it should pick and ship tomorrow and I should have it Wed/Thur...so you probably won't see any samples with the sets until after next weekend...SORRY!

I got Stella Stamper out of the drawer today, she is not longer stuck in the box. I got her out and decorated my shelf in the Stamp Studio that has my name spelled out in the Monogram Alphabet...I think it looks really cute...I will post some photos tomorrow.

So here is the Simply Said Swap card that I am making right now...I have one totally done and I am working on the other 29...Hopefully I can get them finished up tomorrow...I am really liking this layout I have used it quite a bit in the last few days and have made several cards...I will uplaod more as the week goes on...So keep checking back!

Last One...I promise...Until I make more that is...

This is the last of the Unfrogettable cards that I made last weekend. So until I can make more cards with this set, you will just have to be satisified with cards from other sets...

I think this one turned out REALLY CUTE! The Window Sheets that Stampin' Up! carried have now been discontinued, but that's okay with me since I never used them anyway...I have always used Page Protectors for my clear plastic needs. I had ordered some 12x12 Page Protectors to hold my SU! Designer Series Paper Packs so I had some extras...and this is one of the projects that I did...

I used the Jet Black Staz-On on the Page Protector...then I colored on the BACKSIDE of the image with the White Gel Pen. I then colored over the White Gel Pen with the Markers...Once you color the White Gel Pen with the Markers...the Gel Pen changes color...I thunk it up all on my own...I think! I don't remember reading about it anywhere...usually when I see a bright idea like that then I write it down in my ideas notebook, and I looked...it's not there...So MAYBE...the idea is ALL MINE...

Well...I got my Pre-Order in this morning, and I was SO HOPING that it would pick and ship today, so I could get it on Tuesday, but apparently so many people expedited their shipping that it hasn't even gone into picking yet...so I won't get it until Wednesday or Thursday...BUMMER...at least I hope to have it so I can play next weekend...

I ordered 5 of the 6 stamp sets that were available for preorder. I ordered:

Baroque Motifs
Holidays & Wishes
Pick a Petal
Zoofari
Hugs & Wishes

I also ordered a package of the NEW Circle Rhinestones. They will be available in FIRE & ICE...Reds, Oranges, Yellows, and Blues, Greens, Purples...I can't wait to play with those. I was really excited to order this morning because my order was $99.65 and I am getting it all for FREE...Yep...FREE. I received a promotion to Senior Supervisor in December and when you promote to this title you receive a $100.00 product bonus...I have been saving this for 6 months to use in the new catalog...and this morning I blew my money...It was so nice to hit the submit order button knowing that the money wouldn't be coming out of my checking account.

Now...that's not to say I won't be ordering more stuff...I will be in just a few minutes in fact...I still need to order the On Board Blossoms & Basics that match the Pick a Petal stamp set, the See You Around Jumbo wheel, and an assorted pack of the NEW In-Colors. I need to see them in person to see which ones I really like...I also need some more cardstock that I am running low on...So that order will go in tonight...but it will be no where near as fun as the order I placed this morning...It is so much harder spending your own money than some one elses...Oh Well...

I will be posting again tomorrow. I will have to tell you all about my workshop and share the projects that I planned. I got those designed a bit ago...there is nothng like waiting until the last minute...and I seem to do it everytime...
